Detailed solution for: General Error 24:15
Return to error solutions |
The Pronto raises this error [while hand feeding a card] because it detected that the Rear Card Sensor is Blocked before the front sensor. It expects the front sensor to trigger first...
There are two possible causes for this error
The Rear Card Sensor is blocked (ON) all the time. | The Front Sensor is unblocked (OFF) all the time, never blocked. |
Most likely caused by dust, debris, blocking the opto sensor or the sensor has developed a fault, failing in the triggered ON state. | This is extremely rare but the front sensor may have been dislodged from its correct position, or has developed a fault failing in the OFF state. |

The front button LED will change from Green to WhiteThe front button LED is now showing the status of the chosen card sensor: Open the lid, remove the dye film. The card sensor locations are shown in the image opposite 👉
The rear card sensor can be seen inside on the left-hand side at the very back of the printer. A card can be manually slid into the sensor gap to test the sensor. click to enlarge the image in a new tab: | The front sensor location is at the inside front left of the printer. A card can be manually slid into the sensors gap to test the sensor as shown: |
When the sensor is blocked, the front panel LED 'should' go out. |
A note on the Pronto Middle Sensor
Over time the Pronto mid card sensor became redundant and the laterst firmware omitted the use of this sensor completely.
Therefore, early Prontos will have a sensor fitted to the mid location, later Prontos will not:
*Also if a sensor has somehow been dislodged out of its position the sensor location will appear as shown in the image above, an empty location.
One other note is the opto sensor itself may appear black (unsheilded type) or copper (shielded type).
The copper shielding is simply an evolution of the part.
🧽 Manually clean sensors with compressed air and/or soft anti-static brush.
You can manually clean the opto sensors, carefully, with compressed air and a soft anti-static brush.
We also recommend to perform the correct cleaning routine for your Pronto, and ensure that you have the correct cleaning cards for the Pronto too.
The sensors did not behave as described above?
If the cleaning of the sensor did not restore the correct behaviour you may be in need of a repair.
You can check your printers warranty status by entering your serial number on the support home page and raise a support case directly with Magicard Technical Support by creating your support account and registering your printer, then raise a new support case.
You may also find your original supplier can assist you if they are more local to you - either with repair or replacement.
