Detailed solution for: Incorrect dye film type fitted in printer

Written by Auto Mation,

The most likely cause is that either:

a. The fitted dye film is not compatible with the printer or...

All Magicard colour dye films are fitted with a special tag which is read by the printer each time the printer is initialised (the printer will also initialise after power-up). Through reading this tag, the printer is able to identify the type of film fitted.

This error is generated if the tag is read but is not compatible with the printer. Contact your Magicard dealer who will be able to supply the correct film type.

b. The fitted dye film is compatible but is not recognised by the printer.

If the fitted film and tag are of the correct type but not recognised by the printer, then this will also generate an error. The likeliest cause in this case is that the fitted film tag is either faulty or corrupted.

Try fitting a new dye film. When the printer has completed initialisation, try re-printing the card again. Contact your Magicard dealer to arrange a replacement dye film.
