
Print a test image on a Pronto printer
The Pronto is able to print an internal Test Card independently of its host computer.
This function is a useful test to check the printer is working correctly without involving any computer software or printer driver settings.
For a diagnostics example:
- If the test card prints as expected and does not show the same defect seen from your application then any issue you may be experiencing will likely not be the printer itself, the cause is likely elsewhere.
- Should the internal test card print for example the same defect seen from your application, the cause may be within the printer.
To print the internal test card
- Press the Pronto’s front panel switch twice (quickly in succession)
- The colour of the front button LED will change from green to yellow
- After a short delay (loading in the test card image), the Pronto’s Rollers will start to turn
- At this point a Card should be fed into the Printer’s front panel card feed slot
Once printing is completed the result should be the test image shown below:

ℹ️ Other useful test cards
If your Pronto Serial Number contains a letter, like: 12F3456
You can print the TST8 card via the Support Utility, Quick Command
On your Windows PC where the Pronto is connected via USB:
- Download the ID Card Printer Support Utility
- Connect to the Pronto
- In the Commands tab send the command: TST8
If your Pronto Serial Number has No Letter, just 8 digits, like: 12345678
You can print the Test Card from the tools tab in Printer Properties.
On your Windows PC where the Pronto is connected via USB:
- Navigate to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
- Right click your Pronto's printer icon and choose Printer Properties
- In the Tools tab: select Test print.
