How to order and install a Digital Double-Sided (Duo) Upgrade

'Feature Key' is the term referring to Custom HoloKote® and Double Sided Upgrades. (a digital key unlocking a feature of the printer)
Both of which are electronically delivered to the latest generation of Magicard Printers (Rio Pro 360 onwards).

Ordering a Double Sided Upgrade

  1. Sign-up for or Sign-in to your Magicard Support Account.
    You can also get there from your Windows printer driver too, shown in the first image below.
  2. Register your printer and then hover over your already registered printer/s to view available options.
  3. Select Double Sided Upgrade to submit your order. *only available on upgradeable printers.
  4. You can track your order status via the emails we will send and via the Holokotes® & upgrades section of your account.
  5. Once approved you will be notified by email and you will now see the Download Button for your Duo Upgrade File.
    *Magicard may have sales data available enabling us to process the order very quickly, or, we may need to reach out through our partner network to advise them of the order so they can arrange the payment with you.  Magicard cannot take direct payments.



Installing the .upg file into your printer

Double Sided Upgrade can be installed in 2 ways:

    1. Online  Your Windows (only windows) printer driver may now have access to the .upg file, however there are many networking factors which may negate this feature which are out of our control. If so, use step 2.

    2. Offline  You can download the file from your Magicard Support Account then install it from the PC connected to your printer.

Online Installation

  1. Open your printer driver via Control Panel > Devices and Printers
    Windows Control Panel

  2. Right Click your printers icon > choose 'Printing Preferences':

  3. In your Driver select Printer Upgrades:

  4. Then... Double Sided & Install:

  5. Your purchased upgrade will be installed.  ⏳ Please patiently wait for confirmation.
  6. Once successful your printers Status Monitor will pop-up with confirmation...
    • You will now see on your printers display the addition of the word 'Duo' meaning the option is now enabled.
    • And you can now select 'Both Sides' within your Printing Preferences duplex printing option.



Offline Installation

Download your Double-sided upgrade file from your Magicard Support Account.

If the PC your printer is connected to is an offline setup, you can simply sign-in to your account from on another internet connected computer, download the and then transfer it to your printers PC in whchever way is convenient.
  1. Login to you Magicard Support Account Feature Keys > Double Sided Upgrade Keys
  2. Click the ' > ' and then the Download Button will be visible as shown below:

  3. Save your .upg file and transfer it over to your printers PC in a location you can find easily in the next step.
  4. Open your printer driver:  Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right Click your printers icon > choose 'Printing Preferences'
  5. In your Driver select Printer Upgrades > Double Sided > Offline Install > Navigate to your previously transferred and saved .upg file and select it.
  6. Your purchased upgrade will be installed. ⏳ Please patiently wait for confirmation...
  7. Once successful your printers Status Monitor will pop-up with confirmation.
    • You will now see on your printers display the addition of the word 'Duo' meaning the option is now enabled.
    • And you can now select 'Both Sides' within your Printing Preferences duplex printing option.
 

My File is a .PRN file? (not .upg)

If you have been provided a file type with the files extension .prn then you will need to send that to your printer as shown below:

  1. Control Panel > View Devices and Printers
  2. Right click your printers icon and Choose Printer Properties


  3. Select the Tools Tab Then use the print *.PRN file section to browse and select your file.


  4. Click print to send the file to your printer.
  5. The printer will be upgraded as per the contents of your prn file (ie, the duo upgrade will be applied)
