Windows Printer Driver Install Error 2502 / 250

Windows DriverIf you are getting 2502 / 250_   from the MSI Installer then you may be installing the driver while using a restricted user account that doesn’t have enough rights / privileges.

  • The error is basically saying you have insufficient rights to be able to write to the Windows Temp folder.
  • This location is required on your local PC Drive to extract files while the driver is installing.

Solution

You should log into the PC with a local admin account (computer administrator) (just to install the printer).
Contact your IT department if required.

Once the driver is installed, you should be able to  revert back to a normal user account and still be able to use the printer.

*Alternatively, you could use the ‘bare driver files’ which does not use the MSI installer:

It was strange what my problem was but support was quick to isolate it with a few pics sent to them. Very happy with the support.

I appreciate the service I received during this support ticket. I appreciate being able to correspond via email and I appreciate being able to make contact with you fairly easily. It is very difficult to be able to make contact with people at many companies, but it was very easy to get in touch with you. I appreciate your support and service and am happy to leave a 5 star rating!
